French President Emmanuel Macron met on Monday with his Chilean counterpart Sebastian Pinera at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
The two leaders discussed a range of issues, including climate change and the coronavirus pandemic.
Regarding the pandemic, Pinera hailed the “scientific triumph” that has been the rapid development of COVID-19 vaccines and the cooperation it required.
Addressing the issue of climate change, Pinera said he discussed with Macron ways in which the two countries can “establish a strategic alliance to address issues such as forest protection, (…) ocean protection and protection of Antarctica. “
Pinera also wants to see more cooperation between France and Chile in the development of renewable energies.
