From France: City Group offered three-year contract to Messi – Two years to Man City, third at NYCFC

Manchester City confirmed Jack Grealish’s transfer on Thursday, just an hour after Barcelona announced Lionel Messi’s departure from Camp Nou.

The 34-year-old has been a free agent for over a month and La Liga’s failure to tie their superstar to a new contract due to “La Liga regulations” saw them part ways with the forward.

Since the Catalan club made the announcement, the Premier League winners have been presented as potential candidates, mainly because they tried to sign Messi last summer while he was still at Barcelona.

Sport explained on Friday that the Citizens are not considering making an offer for the Argentine as they seek to bring Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur to the Etihad.

However, Le10 Sport released an exclusive report, stating otherwise. The Copa América winner is said to have received a “concrete and official offer” from the owners of English club, City Football Group.

They sent a “firm proposal” to the player and his entourage. Le10 claims to have obtained the details of the offer made by CFG, which includes a three-year contract.

According to the proposal, Messi will have to spend the first two years with Pep Guardiola’s side and the last will be in the United States, with New York City FC, a club also owned by City Football Group.

Paris Saint-Germain are in the picture and if they want to sign Messi, they have to offload “several players” first. Therefore, PSG have not yet made a concrete offer for the South American.
