This Ontario Lavender Field Offers Dream Picnics And It’s Like Being In The French Countryside

There’s a new lavender farm near Toronto that will transport you to the French countryside without having to leave the province.

To celebrate the opening of the farm (and National Picnic Day), Avalon Lavender Farm is hosting a picnic day on its first open weekend June 18-19. You can bring your own basket of goodies or buy a picnic set which you can enjoy surrounded by rolling lavender fields.

The Lavender Field has over 10 picnic tables scattered amongst the flowers where you can sit and grab a bite to eat, or relax in one of their four purple daybeds.

Their curated picnic basket includes a bunch of local goodies like lentil salad, fruit salad, olive platter, lavender scone, and a variety of cheeses and crackers. You can admire the surrounding nature and smell the sweet scent of lavender while dining casually followed by a walk along the nearby river.

If you’re looking to get your body moving, there are summer yoga events in the lavender fields. Every Thursday to Sunday from June to September, yogis can go to the farm to take one of the classes which take place at 6 p.m.

The yoga class is included in the $14 admission price, so if you’re already out in the fields picking a bouquet to take home, you can hang back to do some movement before taking the road.
